Hil Smith (they/them) is an aspiring geriatric care nurse with a passion for gerontology, geriatric psychiatry, and palliative care. They are seeking a role that will allow them to work with and learn from an established team in a supportive professional environment to provide exceptional care. Hardworking, adaptable, and accustomed to fast-paced environments, Hil is a capable multitasker adept at delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

Following their graduation from Queen’s University (BA(H)) and Humber College (Post-Graduate Certificate), Hil spent nearly a decade in film and television post-production. Their experience in this field developed strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines. However, it was their personal experience caring for their grandmother that ultimately ignited their passion for nursing.

Hil is currently in their final year at Trent University’s Compressed Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. Their clinical placements, combined with volunteer work at Toronto’s Kensington Hospice during the pandemic, have reinforced their commitment to holistic and compassionate care. Hil is particularly interested in improving healthcare systems for older adults, advocating for health equity, and ensuring dignity in aging. They strive to integrate research and practice to enhance patient outcomes and empower older adults to live with autonomy and purpose. With a focus on evidence-based care and advocacy, Hil hopes to make a lasting impact by fostering dignity, respect, and innovation in geriatric nursing.
